The 2022 season opener for Reef and Run is all set for Thursday, June 2nd.
It’s the first of 12 consecutive Thursdays hosting swimming races and live music at East Beach.
As always, the season opener has no registration fees. Swimmers can choose between the Santa Barbara Swim Club 500-meter swim, the Santa Barbara Triathlon 1k swim and the Advanced Veterinary Specialists 1-mile swim.
Registration begins on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and races start at 6:30.

Season passes go on sale mid-April
A season pass covers all 12 Reef & Run events during the summer through August 18. An early-bird rate of $120 will be available in April. The regular cost of a season pass is $150.
Your season pass does not include the special Boat to Beach race on August 25th.
2022 Reef & Run Season
The Reef and Run season begins on Thursday, June 2 and the last races of the season are August 18. The Boat to Beach race, for which participants must qualify, will be held on August 25.
Walk-up entry fees for each individual event during the season remains $15 per night. Besides the weekly swimming races, athletes can also compete in any of the four Stuart J. Sato, DDS Biathlons. Youth swimmers can participate in the Mullen & Henzell Youth 1K Grand Prix or the Howell, Moore, & Gough U12 500M Grand Prix.
We’d like to mention our huge appreciation for American Riviera Bank as Reef & Run’s premier sponsor. We have never raised the price for registration in large part because of the important support from these local sponsors.
In return Reef & Run gives back to the local community by donating to the Junior Lifeguards program and the Nick Johnson Memorial Fund. Last year, thanks to a record number of swimmers, we gave back $4,500 for a total of almost $30,000 since Reef & Run’s inception.
