Registration Open for Boat to Beach Swim
Swimmers ahoy! Sign-ups for August 29's Boat to Beach Swim officially open this week at Reef & Run, where you must sign up in person with Race Director Jane Cairns.
The Boat Swim takes swimmers aboard the Condor from the harbor to a location about a mile offshore. After leaping from the boat into the ocean, swimmers gather for an open-water start before racing back to East Beach.
Registration for this special event is open to anyone but is for advanced swimmers only, and there are qualification criteria that must be met. Swimmers can sign up as long as they have swam at least three 1K or 1-mile swims previously at Reef & Run this summer.
Registration costs $60. Includes boat, food, drink tickets, and raffle.
Again, you must sign up yourself, in person with Race Director Jane Cairns.
Spots on the boat are limited so sign up as soon possible.
BOAT TO BEACH EVENT INFO
RACE-DAY CHECK-IN
Check-in is at Santa Barbara Landing (Formerly Sea Landing) and starts at 4:45 p.m. We will be on the Condor Express. The boat will leave promptly at 5:40 p.m. If you are late, you will miss the boat and the race.
SAFETY FIRST
There has been some behavior in the past that will not be tolerated this year.
**No Alcohol on the boat this year
**No swimming out to the boat to "bandit" the boat swim
Anyone who does either of these things will not be allowed on future boat swims. Spread the word.
PERSONAL ITEMS
We will have trash bags to transport MINIMAL clothing and personal items from the boat to East Beach. Please no backpacks or duffel bags. I will not let you board the boat with a big bag. (Think: shorts, flip-flops, t-shirt in a grocery bag).
The trash bags will not be delivered to the beach until AFTER the race is completed, so do not put any important items in the bags (like keys you need to get into your car or cell phones). We will not be responsible for any important items that you bring aboard the Condor. You can drop off all your items that you need for the after party at East Beach before the swim. We will have monitors at the beach while we are swimming...
POST-RACE CHECK-IN AT EAST BEACH
The boat will be leaving Santa Barbara Landing, but we WILL NOT be returning there. You will be swimming into East Beach and checking in again, post-swim, at East Beach to get your meal ticket, drink tickets, and swimmer-only raffle.
TRANSPORTATION TO SB LANDING ~ Post-Race Clothing
Reef & Run will NOT be providing transportation from East Beach to SB Landing. We suggest you coordinate a carpool with other Boat to Beach participants to leave a car at East Beach and your warm, post-race clothes at the finish site. You can drop off post-race bags at East Beach before the event.
